We have to decide what vision of the good life compels us, and commit to it. Humanity is an ongoing question, and technology cannot answer on our behalf."
"It concerns not just the Internet, but technology in general. It is the expectation that technology can and will solve problems; that the future will be better because technology will have made it so; that many of us can wait for machines and code to fix things."
"This is not surprising. Technology is about problem-solving. As Aristotle revealed in his study of techne, or craft, its rationality is instrumental. Technology realizes possibilities which would not otherwise be, and it does so reliably – or is supposed to. It is a specific means to specific ends."
The question can you really count or mention how technology as helped you, then review how it as harm you as well.....
Technology, in the face of ignorance and in the hands of fools, can be a dangerous thing.
Perhaps some say; I'm finding that technology is reaching for the sky, and people are getting more stupid and ignorant by the day! I meet people that don't know the most basic and simple things about everyday life and common knowledge. I'm blown away by the lack of interest in how life really works, instead, everyone is glued to the tiny screens in their hands keeping up with the likes of the Kardashian or the latest movie or, who's sleeping with whom and who's divorcing who. The sad reality is, that if this technology were to disappear from the face of this earth, the majority of the public wouldn't know the basic and simple facts of survival.
We need to get back to reality and rely on ourselves, instead of letting the technology rule us! I love and adore this new age of wonders but I wouldn't trade what I've learned the old fashioned way, by trial and error and by reading books and taking advice from those who were more experienced than me. We really should learn how to incorporate both so we become in control rather than robots and machines controlling us!
